Torsional Vibration Analysis

Torsional Vibration problems often occur when two dissimilar inertias need to be connected together using a relatively flexible connecting shaft or element. When these conditions occur and the prime mover is an internal combustion engine there is a very strong likelihood that resonance will occur somewhere in the operating speed range.

Resonance can be very harmful to driveline systems with peak torque in excess of 5 times nominal torque being experienced by the driveline elements which can lead to premature failure.

Torsional Vibration Analysis GraphThe introduction of a highly flexible coupling can ensure that any resonance will occur outside the normal operating speed range (normally above) thereby eliminating the possibility of these harmful peak torques being experienced.

A wide range of designs are available to suit flywheel to cardanshafts, shafts to shafts and flange to cardanshafts. The flexible elements can be supplied with different degrees of shore hardness which means we can optimise the coupling precisely to meet the system requirements.
